The Mining 2010 Resources Convention is one of Australia’s
most widely regarded events within the resources industry and it
is anticipated this year’s event will be the most paramount
yet.
The conference will run over three days, from 27 to 29 October,
and will include two Auditoriums covering topics such as Metals
Outlook, Funds Management, International Outlook, Exploration in
Australia and Junior Company Presentations.
The hub of the conference will be the 82 booth exhibition area where
companies will be showcasing the latest they have to offer.
The annual Brisbane Mining Conference is a significant mining event
and a prime opportunity for investors, explorers, miners and allied
industries to hear first-hand of the mining opportunities in this
state.
Queensland’s dynamic mining industry continues to provide
a range of exploration opportunities including initiatives for sources
of renewable energy.
Mining investment across Queensland is expanding at a record pace
as companies look to emerging market opportunities both within Australia
and globally.
International investment in Queensland’s mining sector continues
to grow, with significant joint venture partnerships secured for
the long-term benefit of our State.
The Queensland Government is supporting this growth through its
Greenfields 2020 program and the Greenfields Prospectivity Unit
which will target under-explored frontier greenfield areas and areas
at greater depths.
The government is streamlining the regulatory approvals processes
for mining and petroleum projects and upgrading the state’s
tenure management systems.
Investment in mining technology, health and safety, environmental
rehabilitation, and exploration and research are fundamental to
driving industry advancements.
The Queensland Government supports the mining industry through
a low tax regime, competitive labour costs, a highly skilled workforce
and targeted skills programs, partnerships in government, industry
research, and world-class infrastructure.
I’m pleased to welcome delegates to Mining 2010 and to Queensland.
I wish you a highly successful conference.
