BEIJING
– INVESTING IN AUSTRALIAN RESOURCES FORUM
2012 Conference Report
Following on from the highly successful Beijing
- Investing In Australian Resources Forum in 2011, the Vertical
Events team was again able to build upon strong international
relationships and reputation to
deliver the forum in 2012.
The Forum previously existed as the Australian Government
Investment Day from 2004 to 2010. In 2011, the event was handed
to Vertical Events to increase the magnitude and potential
the initiative for presenters and international investors
alike. With the involvement of Chinese marketing specialists
- IC Asia, a series of additional presentations from
publicly listed ASX companies and other industry organisations
were included.
This year the Forum programme of 20 keynote presentations
included five Australian company presentations, State and
Federal Government presentations, Chinese Government and company
presentations with private meetings and networking opportunities
also scheduled.
The timing of the Forum was fortuitous, coinciding with the
Ministerial change of the Chinese Government which provided
valuable insight into the stepping up of their facilitation
of major projects, investment potentials and JV partnerships.
The aim of the seminar focused on enhancing the understanding
of the Australian resources industry and partnership opportunities
within, through presentations from Government regarding the
current legislative framework and geological hot spots. The
relevance of the event is further extended through the participation
of Australian resource companies presenting their major projects
and investment opportunities direct to a Chinese investor
audience and the commitment from the Chinese Government in
assisting ongoing partnerships.
The congregation of 350 delegates included 100 Australian
delegates from Government departments including Australia
Minerals, the Government Geoscience Group (representing every
state and territory of Australia) as well as Australian private
sector interests. The 300 strong Chinese contingent included
senior Government ocers and a strong Chinese private investment
sector representation.
The overwhelming success of the Beijing Resources Investment
Forum 2012 sets an impressive
benchmark for international events of this kind which will
continue in 2013.
